Bahia is a state in north-eastern Brazil. Most trips start in Salvador, its capital, which has an international airport and frequent domestic flights from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and other Brazilian cities.
The highlights are Salvador and its historic centre Pelourinho, Chapada Diamantina National Park, the car-free islands of Boipeba and Morro de São Paulo, Barra Grande on the Maraú Peninsula, and Praia do Forte on the north coast.

Bahia is warm all year. On the coast, rain is more frequent from about April to July, and the sunniest months are usually from September to March. Salvador's Carnival takes place in February or early March.
